The Whitfields — Luke, Elise, Macie (14), Emma (12), Payton (10), Chichi (8), Tazi (6) and Avery (2) have served in Zambia since February of 2007.
The journey began with a season of serving in the Zambian capital of Lusaka for five years before moving to Chikankata District in the rural Southern portion of Zambia in February 2012. An invitation from the local Chief of the Tonga people (Chieftainess Mwenda) confirmed that God had opened a door for the Kingdom to be preached to this people group of around 80,000 individuals.
Cheiftainess Mwenda’s vision is for the development of her people and hence the province to be founded on the Gospel of Jesus and The Kingdom, rather than Western aid and Zambian Government programs. She confirmed this by gifting almost 14 acres, in her village of Ngagula, as a ministry center which Eleeo Project is currently developing.
Agricultural plots, community health evangelism, Jesus Film outreach, seminars and kids camps are just a few of the ways Eleeo Project has and continues to reach out to the rural community of around 5000 Tonga that surround the center.
